Sustainable Solutions

Lighting solutions should improve the way a space functions, but it is also important that those solutions provide enhanced sustainability credentials throughout the product or technology's lifetime. Traditionally, those sustainability credentials have been met when the energy-savings box has been ticked. But that's no longer enough. How can we go further?
Understanding the complex balance between humans, local biodiversity and the night sky enabled our research and development teams to get this balance right. With so many challenges arising from outdoor applications, we set about developing new technologies that could further enhance the sustainability credentials of outdoor lighting solutions. NightTune and Variable Light Distribution are two of those technologies. They work by providing a warmer light and specialised optics to ensure nocturnal wildlife, the night sky and human safety do not pay the price for improving energy savings. This wider view on sustainability, which goes beyond the scope of LED technology, has been at the heart of our innovation and development over recent years, and is something we build on each and every day.

Actions

Our intention is to become your partner of choice when it comes to achieving the sustainability goals of any lighting project. This means being as transparent as possible and helping you with the required Lighting Energy Numerical Indicator (LENI) or embodied carbon calculations. We commit to continuing our work with our suppliers on sustainable procurement, offer our employees an excellent place to work, and excite our customers not only for our light but also for our sustainable products, services and data.
We have subscribed to twelve United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The goals we have committed to encompass both business improvement aspirations and customer amplification potential. Our ambition is to become your partner of choice, and through sustainable technologies, SDG alignment, and tailoring our achievements and goals to specific lighting applications, we can help you achieve your sustainability ambitions.

One of the SDG we’ve committed to is ‘Partnerships for the goals’. We work with a variety of international bodies which, in turn, contribute to designing standards and guidelines.
We also partner with leaders in areas such as dark skies and EPD providers to ensure we produce the right solution for our customers, the environment and local ecology.
